Trex success attracts new merchants

Trex decking is being installed at one of the largest hard landscaping display areas in the country after building merchant Kent Blaxill was announced as a stockist of the popular composite decking product.

A Trex deck measuring nearly 13 square metres has been installed at Kent Blaxill’s Colchester branch, as part of a comprehensive renovation of the building merchant’s landscape offering.

Kent Blaxill is partnering with Arbor Forest Products (AFP) on all its timber based landscaping products, including softwood and composite decking, and staff from AFP will be assisting with the installation of the Trex deck before delivering a training workshop for the merchant’s entire sales team.

The high level of composite decking expertise at merchants around the UK has been instrumental to the rapid growth of products like Trex, and stockists can now offer the product in two brand new colours, ‘Island Mist’ and ‘Torino Brown’.

The new colours will be a focus of the refresher training sessions AFP is delivering to its first major Trex stockist, Alsford Timber. Training will be at Alsford’s Leatherhead Branch and will cover the success of Trex in 2015 and the launch of new colour options.

Lee Heitzman, sales executive at AFP, is looking forward to building on the foundations that are set to make 2016 another successful year for this product.

He said: “We are starting to see Trex become as popular in the UK as it has been in the United States for quite some time now.

“Sales of Trex in 2015 were better than ever, and it is no surprise that merchants are moving towards composite decking now that its popularity is so widespread.

“We are committed to making sure our merchants are kept fully up-to-date on the very latest product information, so that they can help their customers reap the benefits of innovative, hugely popular products like Trex.”
